Every Road Leads to Washington.
For The Poor Peoples Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival’s Mass Poor People and Low wage workers Assembly and March on Washington DC, June 18th, 2022.
FORWARD TOGETHER, NOT ONE STEP BACK!
This slogan graced the original Poor People’s Campaign banners many years ago. In my life today I stand in the truth that every road walked through my life, from my childhood, fighting gentrification in the city of Montevideo to the jail cells in Fredericksburg, to a shelter for domestic violence in Richmond all the way to spray painting walls in Washington DC…
In the past, I have fought ICE through direct action to keep my family together, grown garden networks to feed my community, raised thousands to set the captives free and opened Fredericksburg’s first BIPOC owned art gallery, event venue and LGBTQ safe space.
After all, all of this has brought me into a beloved community with you!
Today, I have the honor and privilege to share with you the news that I am DC’s newly appointed State Campaign Organizer. In preparation for our Mass Assembly and March June 18th, 2022 my role is to spread the good news that there is a campaign made up of and led by Poor People, a campaign fighting to change the narrative and build power within the DC Metro Area. In the Campaign, we do M.O.R.E through Mobilization, Organizing, Registering a movement that votes/Resisting and Education. Please take a minute to check out this video invitation from the Campaign and head over to our website to register for June 18th, 2022.
